Stunning Purple Blooms Withstand High Heat
With stunning lavender blooms and shimmering, silvery foliage, the Desperado® Sage is a classic flowering shrub that’s ideal for planting anywhere. But what truly sets it apart is its ability to tolerate high heat, drought and lower water supply.
So, it’s super versatile and adaptable. You can plant your Desperado® nearly anywhere, from borders to beds and mass plantings or even as standalone specimens in your landscape. Planting & Care
1. Planting: It’s heat and drought tolerant but does need well-drained soil and 6 to 8 hours of sunlight per day for best results. But once you’ve chosen your planting location, it’s simple – dig a hole that’s one and a half times the width of your Desperado® Sage’s root ball, place the plant and then back fill its soil. Then, water thoroughly to settle the roots and mulch around the base to reduce weeds.
2. Watering: Water your newly-planted Desperado® Sage regularly, about once per week, until it’s fully established. If you’re not sure when to water, however, check for soil dryness about 2 to 3 inches down in the surrounding area – if the soil is dry here, water your plant.
3. Fertilizing: Feed your Desperado® Sage in early spring and again in early fall with a general-purpose fertilizer.
4. Pruning: Prune your Sage during early spring if you want to maintain a neater, rounder shape and reduce any denser foliage.
