Huge Flowers on a Dwarf Butterfly Bush
The “Pugster” series of butterfly bushes packs a terrific punch in a small package. You’ll enjoy the same full-sized flowers that grow on a standard-size butterfly bush — but on compact plants that reach only 2 feet tall and wide. The Pugster Amethyst Butterfly Bush is a summer favorite, with fragrant lilac-colored flowers that beckon butterflies and lure hummingbirds!
Strong, Sturdy and Scent-sational
Although the Pugster Butterfly Bush is a small version of much-larger butterfly bushes, it’s incredibly durable and resilient.
• Strong stems. The stems are not spindly; they’re thick, which gives them stronger winter hardiness.
• Sturdy branching. More branches mean more flowers, and Pugster Butterfly Bush doesn’t disappoint. Well-branched plants support a profusion of flowers from summer until the first frost.
• Sweetly scented flowers. Summer breezes carry the fragrance from the large flower clusters to your favorite sitting area.
A Landscape Mini-Gem with Maximum Appeal
Plant the Pugster Amethyst Butterfly Bush in a sunny spot anywhere you can enjoy the scent of its flowers. Along a sunny sidewalk that leads to your front door, the Pugster Amethyst Butterfly Bush is a superior edging plant that will welcome visitors to your home with its sweet fragrance. An exemplary container plant, Pugster is a hardy flowering perennial that fills pots with unflagging color, even in the heat of summer.
A Snap to Grow
Unlike many butterfly bushes that need deadheading, the Pugster Amethyst Butterfly Bush blooms continuously without deadheading or pruning. It stands up to full sun; in fact, it needs at least 6 hours of sun each day for its best bloom. Newly planted shrubs need deep, thorough watering to keep the roots moist until they become established; thereafter, you’ll only need to water if natural rainfall doesn’t provide 1 inch of water each week. The exception is plants in containers, which dry quicker in the summer heat than in-ground plants. Simply fertilize once in early summer with a slow-release fertilizer to nourish plants and maximize their bloom potential!
